Chris Zuppa worked more than 15 years as a visual journalist, spending 12 at the Tampa Bay Times (formerly the St. Petersburg Times). He was an early pioneer in video for newspapers, and Chris has covered major events, which include three National Conventions, a Super Bowl, a World Series, hurricanes, and much more. His video and photography work has been recognized by local and international competitions, including Pictures of the Year International, Best of Photojournalism, National Headliners Awards, and the Florida Society of News Editors. Twice, he was runner up as Region 6 Photographer of the Year.
While Chris has traveled the United States and Florida as visual journalist, he cherished telling stories in his own community too — those intimate moments that celebrate humanity, from a high school senior’s father helping his son get ready for the prom to life at the drive-in movie theater. That’s a major reason why Chris began filming weddings: He loves to celebrate life, and he believes that video is a powerful way to commemorate one of the most important days of people’s lives.
