Saxophonist Nalisio Taveras
Born in New York, raised all over the globe, Nalisio has been riding a wild musical roller coaster his entire life. His first musical beginning came when he was just 14 years old, studying classical music in Japan. From there Nalisio pushed on to college where he would earn a Bachelor’s in Jazz Performance followed by a Master’s in Arranging/Composition.
Nalisio currently resides in Tampa, Fl where, in addition to performing with his American band, he performs regularly with his Latin band (Son Salvaje).
Nalisio has earned a number of prestigious awards including:
- Hispanic Hall of Fame Academic-All Star Award
- Robert Price Master Musician Scholarship
- Florida Academic Scholarship
- Northeast Florida Jazz Association Scholarship
- Mullikan/Matteson Scholarship
- Outstanding Scholar of the Year Award
- In November 2006 Nalisio was voted one of the Top 10 up and coming young jazz musicians across the entire U.S (Jazziz Magazine).
